Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs


Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs.. What a surprise treat for your guest at your next cookout! Add a tray full of these next to your regular hot dogs and just see which one is empty first!

Let me talk you through a few tips first though to help you be the talk of the neighborhood!



Tips for making Bacon wrapped Hot Dogs:

Ingredients:

  • Buy quality hot dogs.. this is not the time to go cheap. Get a good beef hot dog. 
  • Buy thick sliced bacon.. Again. .this is not the time to go cheap. You know how paper thin they get! They won't even know there's bacon on there if you don't get thick sliced!


Assembly:
  • Wrap one slice bacon the full length of one hot dog.
  • Lay on baking sheet with edges. (not a flat cookie sheet)


Cooking:
You have choices:

  • Baking is my preferred method.  In oven at 425° till bacon is crispy, approximately 20 minutes, but watch time. depending on thickness of bacon it may take less or even more time.
  • Grilling: If you really want to grill it,  You will have major grease flare ups. You will need to put them on a higher rack and tray to catch the bacon grease underneath to catch the grease, or you will have just too much fire on your hands. Do not do this without a drip tray underneath the hot dogs on a grill. (Or just do what i do.. and bake them in the oven!)
