Spring Flower Cubes

Flower Crafts
Dollar Store Craft

This pretty spring project is very affordable on a tight budget!  I got everything from the dollar store! It only took about 15 minutes to make one cube, so it also is a quick & easy project as well.

Here is how I did it:

*Foam cubes (I found them in bins underneath the silk flowers at Dollar Tree)
*20 Large silk Daisies
*Optional:  small filler flowers such as hydrangeas or leaves from the silk daisies
*hot glue gun

1) Plug in the glue gun
2) Unwrap the clear plastic outer wrapping on the styrofoam cube
3) Pull or snip  the daisy heads off of the stems. Making sure you leave a small piece of the green stem with the flower for sticking into the foam.

4) Apply a little bit of hot glue around the base of the back of a daisy and push stem into the foam in desired location and hold in place for a second for the glue to secure. I  chose to put 4 daisies on each side of the cube, except the bottom (of course!)

Jan's tip: After a little trial and error, I found that I liked the look better if I slightly angled the flower as I was pushing it in, the flower slightly pointed toward the nearest corner with the stem being pushed into the foam at a slight angle. This filled the gaps along the corners of the cubes a bit better.

5) After completing the first side, repeat process for all remaining sides except the bottom.
6) I found that I had a few gaps in the cube where the styrofoam cube was showing through. I used the same process above, and hot glued green hydrangea flowers into those spots to fill in the gap. Can you see the hyrdangea peaking through below?

Play around with them a little bit, If you want to stack one on top of the other, make sure to leave off the top side of flowers for the bottom cube, so the cubes will stack better. I stacked one on top of  vase, and set one beside it.

  1. Very pretty! I saw something recently that is similar, hot gluing small silk roses to a lampshade for a little girls room. Love the flower ideas. :)

    1. I love that idea! I have no little girl to make one for, so may have to do one for myself! THanks for sharing!

  2. Very cute! This would also work with fresh flowers for a spring party.

  3. Great idea -- and very good tutorial! Thank you for linking to Busy Monday at A Pinch of Joy! Can't wait to see what you bring to the party this next week!
