Oreo Cookie Muffins

This muffin recipe has been in my files for years as a gift in a jar recipe, that I have never tried. I decided to pull it out and make a batch to try and see how it turns out.

Today I'll share my results with you!  They are very good. The muffins are not overly sweet like you might imagine. I tweaked it by adding a powdered sugar glaze to the top, which I think is a must for the recipe.

They would make a good gift in a jar if you like to do that as gifts, I tend to just make the muffins and deliver them as my preference, but I put a batch in a jar for you to see.

Oreo Cookie Muffins
makes 12 (regular sized)

Powdered sugar glaze:
in small bowl mix together:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tablespoon milk
Add more milk a little at a time till desired consistency

Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt sugar and cookies) in a mixing bowl.
In separate bowl, mix together the wet ingredients ( milk, sour cream, egg, butter)
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir just until blended.
Spoon batter into 12 greased muffin pan cups.
Bake 400° for 20 mins or until wooden pick inserted in center come out clean.
While warm drizzle powdered sugar glaze over the top of each muffin.
(I like them served warm best!) (with a glass of cold milk)

To make a gift in a jar:
Layer in this order:
baking powder
oreos (on top)
Seal jar and attach the recipe and directions.

Jan's tip : I really had to cram those 20 cookies in their, so press down hard to fit them all in!
