Beef & Cheddar Stuffed Rolls

Beef and Cheddar Stuffed Rolls, are a filling hot sandwiches, that can be made ahead and go from freezer to oven. They are sure to please any hungry crowd.

Whether you need hot sandwiches for a dinner on a chilly night for your family, or to serve for a party, like a football party these sandwiches will be a hit. You will love them too, as you can make these ahead of time, wrap them in foil, and freeze them. Then, just pop them in the oven to warm them to serve them. Makes them a great grab and go meal, or perfect for game day to toss to those cheering fans!

Today I am celebrating with my best blogger friends ahead of the "Big Football Game" and gathering #FootballFood Party Ideas.

Flexible recipe: I'm sharing a basic recipe but feel free to play around with the ingredients a bit to suit your own tastes too! That's what I love about this recipe! It's so flexible! Add in some chopped veggies, or some tomatoes w/ green chiles to spice it up, the possiblities are totally endless. The seasonings are basic as well, make it more savory with worchestshire sauce, or be adventurous with some thai seasonings.

Take for Lunches or keep on hand for snacks: I love keeping a stash of these in the freezer for any kind of meal. So for lunches or snacks that you may want to use the microwave, when I make freezer batches, rather than eat right away meals, I will often wrap them first in Press and Seal plastic wrap and then in foil. If a family member wants to take it in their lunch I quickly unwrap the frozen sandwich from the foil and toss it in their lunch. it thaws through the morning, and all they have to do is open one end of the press and seal wrap to heat it up in the microwave for 1 min or so till warm. then unwrap the rest of the way to eat. Same with a snack, except if it's from frozen, it'll take another minute or so to heat through. If heating in the oven, you'll need to unwrap the foil, take off  the plastic wrap, and re wrap in the foil before heating.

Let's get cooking!

Yield: 8 Sandwiches

Beef & Cheddar Stuffed Rolls

Beef and Cheddar Stuffed Rolls, are a filling hot sandwiches, that can be made ahead and go from freezer to oven. They are sure to please any hungry crowd.
prep time: 10 minscook time: 10 minstotal time: 20 mins

ingredients:

1 lb. hamburger
1 medium onion diced
1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 tsp. mustard
2 Tblsp. catsup
salt and pepper to taste
8 bakery style hamburger buns (unsliced open)

instructions

Cook hamburger in skillet over medium heat with diced onion. Drain grease.
 Remove from heat.
Stir in soup, cheese, mustard, salt and pepper (to taste).
Slice the top 1/3 off the bun leaving a larger "bowl" for the bottom 2/3rd's of the bun.
Remove a bit of the center of the bread from the bottom of the bun leaving a well for the filling to sit into. Be careful not to puncture a whole in the bottom of the bun.
Crumble a cup of the removed bread and stir into your filling. Save the reminaing bread crumbs for another use.
Fill the buns and place the tops of buns on each one.
If serving immediately, they are ready to eat.
If freezing to serve later, wrap in either plastic wrap (I like press and seal) for microwaving, or foil for heating in the oven.
Freeze up to 3 months.
Thaw rolls in fridge 8 hours i f possible and place foil wrapped sandwiches on cookies sheet and bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  If baking from frozen, it will take 45-50 minutes to heat through.
To Microwave, open one end of the plastic wrap and heat for 1 min if thawed, if frozen heat additional time up to 1-2 minutes, depending on microwave wattage.
