Crockpot Caramel Apple Crisp

This post is sponsored in conjunction with #AppleWeek . I received complimentary product from sponsor companies to aid in the creation of the #AppleWeek recipes. All opinions are mine alone.
This post is sponsored on behalf of #appleweek. Our generous sponsors Envy Apples, Bob’s Red Mill, Republic of Tea, Flahavan’s Irish Oats, Nairn’s, Taylor & College, Zyliss, Chocoley, and Torani  have provided us with products for recipe creation and a giveaway for our readers. As always, all opinions are my own.

Crockpot Caramel Apple Crisp just pulls together everything I love about autumn! the scents and flavors  of fall slowly simmering away in a slow cooker, filling your homes with such a delightful scent it will bring your family together to the dinner table for a delightful dessert just ready for a scoop of ice cream to top it off all while keeping your oven free to cook dinner!

I love a traditional apple crisp in my cast iron skillet or a 9 x 13 pan, but there are times I LOVE to toss together this wonderful version in my slowcooker and go about my afternoon and come back to such a wonderful treat ready to go it is hard to keep your family away from the pot!

The crisp on top, is a bit softer of course in this version from being in the slow cooker, but is so filling and scrumptious, you could pretty much talk yourself into eating this for breakfast!

Don't forget to enter the Giveaway at the end of this post! to see the full list of prizes being given away see the welcome post.

Bob's Red Mill: Has a full line of flours, whole grains, cereals & more!  Their name is equal to quality and you can find them in your local stores as well as online! They provided me with flour and brown sugar to help create recipes for #appleweek.

Flahavan's Irish Oats:  This classic tried and trusted brand of oats is truly one of my favorite things in life! We live almost daily on their steel cut oats! Today I'm using their rolled oats for the topping on this ahmazing crisp!

Chocoley; Quality chocolates , caramels and baking supplies. I was tortured on which of their delicious products to feature! their great baking and dipping chocolates that are WAY better quality than the "bricks' at the store??? oh my goodness amazing! OR their creamy, dreamy caramel??
I knew their caramel was the perfect fit with my apple crisp recipe. if you make holiday candies , cookies or baking of any kind, head on over and check them out! Ok.. I may have gone overboard with their 5 lb. brick of caramel.. but I have a feeling with their candy bar molds, I will be creating all sorts of fun gifts for the holidays!

Taylor and Colledge : Quality Vanilla and Organic Extracts are their specialty! They sent me THE best Vanilla Bean paste I"ve ever used!(NO kidding!.. my honest opinion!) to use in recipe developement for Appleweek. Let me just say this is no ordinary Vanilla!

  • 1/2 cup flour

How to cook Crockpot Caramel Apple Crisp

  1. Spray crock pot with non stick cooking spray and set aside.  If using a disposable crock pot liner, spray the liner with non stick spray also.
  2. Chop caramel into small pieces with sharp knife, set aside.
  3.  Mix sliced apples, cinnamon, cloves, and flour in slow cooker., gently stir in caramels also.
  4. In a small bowl, add the topping ingredients; butter, brown sugar, flour, and oatmeal and cut with either a pastry blender or 2 knives until you have a crumbly texture.
  5.  Spread crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture in the crock pot.
  6. cover with lid, and cook on high for 2hours  or low for 4 hours.
  7. When done, spoon out into bowls and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

NOTES:

Feel free to reduce the sugar or caramel in this recipe if you would like to make it a bit less sweet. Leave the flour amount the same to absorb the juices and create a nice caramel sauce, but play around with the brown sugar and or the caramel if you'd like!
